About the Company
Moozoonsii Publishing, based in the beautiful City of Sails, Auckland, New Zealand, was created in 2011 by Ian Hay and Alicia Lee. After a nine-year-long labour of love Alicia’s Homeopathic Mind Map books were ready to go out into the world. Moozoonsii made this possible.
Why the name Moozoonsii? Alicia and Ian wanted a name reflecting Alicia’s Canadian heritage, as well as her Canadian First Nations ancestry (through her maternal Great-great-great grandfather), a lineage that you can clearly see in her Animals book, which includes lots of animal spirit guide information. To incorporate this lineage, we turned to the Ojibwe language Anishnaabe.
The name had to also express Alicia’s love for the majestic Canadian moose, an animal that Alicia holds in great regard. The name also had to have spiritual significance to honour Alicia’s deep relationship with Spirit.
The only name that fit with all of these criteria was the word “Moozoonsii” which means “Little Moose” in Anishnaabe. Moozoonsii was one of the five original Anishinaabe doodem, the clan totems, given to the First Peoples by the great prophets. The story is told that in the earliest time, when the Nations first came to Turtle Island (North America), the prophets came to the First Peoples and gave them guidance, each prophet adopting a tribe and granting their tribe a totem, and one of the totems was the Little Moose, or Moozoonsii. And so our company became Moozoonsii Publishing.
